Experience Metanoia ™
Preliminary

1. Intellectual Preparation
Intellectual Preparation modules provide immersion enhancement components, such as specific cultural expertise, language skills, and social innovation.
These immersion enhancement modules prepare students to think and work in different contexts, while taking in best practices and vocabulary from multiple disciples.
They can be viewed as the lens through which students will interpret their altering experience.
They are crafted and/or selected based on the chosen immersive learning experience and intended outcome.
Experience

2. Immersive Learning Experience
Metanoia was founded on the principle that immersion creates opportunities for passion-led actions for change.
As students engage in their immersive experiential learning experience, they do so with newly acquired skills in teamwork, and having learned relevant principles from disciplines of selected Intellectual Preparation modules.
This can take several forms, from high-level community partner co-op sprints, to community impact-driven study abroad experiences.
Engaging with peers in a multidisciplinary format lowers barriers to communication. This design creates a higher propensity for interdisciplinary collaboration while synthesizing and responding to their altering experiences.
Action

3. Guided Response to an Intended Outcome
Students begin the experience with clear specifications of their intended outcome.
The curriculum for each course is built to culminate in outcome-oriented disciplines, like political science and entrepreneurship.
Students are tasked with providing project-based responses to what they have learned and experienced. This final module is designed to channel their ambition for change in a practical and impactful format.
These responses may take the form of socioeconomic development, community-based research, SDG-aligned project proposals, local capacity-building initiatives, financial literacy tools, or small business concept development.
What is a Module?
We define modules as predetermined components, that contribute to a larger learning outcome.
1. Modules are assorted in nature.
They feature a range of educators from international institutions, with backgrounds ranging from outcome-oriented disciplines, like political science, entrepreneurship, and organizational behavior, to immersion enhancement components, such as specific cultural expertise, language skills, and social innovation.
2. They are fractional and designed to be combined.
Students are encouraged to view complex problems from multiple vantage points. They take the perspective of several experts from intersecting disciplines, enhancing their propensity to reach across communication barriers and engage in interdisciplinary collaboration.
3. They guide students along a path toward action.
